Were my privacy rights violated?

I was recently diagnosed with a disease which requires several blood tests. The disease is hereditary so I advised my mum to have blood tests also. I'd had blood tests and hadn't received the results yet meanwhile my mum visited her doctor to organise getting her blood tests. Whilst my mum was seeing her doctor she explained to him that I had this disease so he decided to bring my details up on his computer.. He found my most recent blood test results and decided to give them to my mum. She came to my house later that afternoon after a while, blurted out my results to me. I was shocked to learn that a doctor I had never met had just gone into my history and shared my blood test results with another patient. I had not even been told my results at this stage.. This has been in my mind for the last week and is driving me crazy? Does anyone know if this is illegal and what I can do about it?? Thanks for taking the time to read this :)
