Neck injury?

My husband works at a local supercenter changing oil and tires while he was working on a truck a tire fell 15 foot and hit him in the back of the head and neck. They took him to the ED and the doc told him that there was 2 protrusions between C-6 and C-7 and recommended that he has an MRI done to see how bad the damage is. When he went to the occ med doctor they treated him like there was nothing wrong and wanted him to return back to work the next day. Now take in concideration he is not able to turn his head without severe pain and now the pain is radiating down to his forearms. He is to go take a test to get a job as a juvinile det officer which he did in PA but is scared this injury is going to hold him back and also when they give him a drug screen it will show positive for pain meds so my question is if we inform the prison of his situation do you think it effect him getting this job and also how do we go about with the drug test cause as of now he needs the meds.
