Terminal cancer - Will I know when I'm in my last few mins, or just go to sleep unaware then stop breathing?
I work in health care, so maybe I can help. When a person dies of terminal cancer it is often a painful process, so the person is heavily medicated to ease the pain. This often makes the person very sleepy or leads to unconsciousness. I suggest that you speak to a hospice nurse. Hospice RN's can help you plan things out in a way that gives you control over your particular situation. My Grandmother is in hospice right now, with terminal cancer. The hospice nurse has been a great help to all of us. Please don't wait to tell those who are important to you how you feel and what your wishes are for the time to come. I wish I could tell you happy stuff, but we both know that this sucks. I will think positive thoughts for you and pray too. God bless you.
